My approach to teaching and learning

Welcome to the My Approach to Teaching and Learning page. Backed with over 17 years of international teaching experience, my approach is based on creating dynamic, inclusive, and student-centred learning environments. Drawing from a broad background in Drama, Theatre Studies, and English Language and Literature, I engage students through creative and critical thinking for meaningful, holistic learning.

My philosophy emphasizes personalised learning, identifying each student's unique needs and strengths. I combine academic rigor with emotional and social development, ensuring students connect learning to real-world, hands-on experiences beyond the classroom. Teaching across diverse cultural settings—from Kenya to Japan, Ethiopia, and Thailand—has taught me the importance of adapting to student needs and incorporating global perspectives into my lessons.

With extensive experience as an IB DP examiner, Extended Essay Coordinator, and curriculum leader, I guide students to think deeply, express their ideas clearly, and take ownership of their learning. In my classroom, students are encouraged to express creativity, embrace challenges, and grow into confident, reflective individuals. My goal is to inspire lifelong learners who are not only academically capable but also empathetic and culturally aware.
